When Christina and Adrian got in touch to ask me to join them and their wee boy Rhys in a stroll around Leadenhall Market and its environs I was pretty excited - they're a damn photogenic bunch! We'd already had to cancel once due to gale force winds and hail - this time, rain or shine we were going to make it happen...
I don't actually mind heavy grey skies for shooting. It's a common misconception that photographers want bright midday sun and no shade to shoot in. I can tell you now - it's our worst nightmare. Think about just what harsh overhead light does to the texture of your skin, and where it puts shadows (under your nose)... and the lens flare. Oh the lens flare. Anyway, so interesting clouds and the rich colours brought out by the humidity - I wasn't going to complain.
We had a lovely stroll, gossip and coffee (Rhys needed a break. It wasn't that we were feeling fatigued at all). Adrian and Christina are planning to jack in their London life and head to Canada in the new year, so I think it was a bit of a farewell shoot too. It's super brave of them and I applaud everyone who has the courage to step out of their comfort zone and see what curveballs life is going to throw at them. You don't half have some interesting experiences!
Here are a few of my fave pics. Guys - I loved meeting you, I'm absolutely rooting for you in your new life... all the very best xxx
