Eliza's First Birthday shoot

May 26, 2014  •  5 Comments

My little almost-niece Eliza (who is to me always and forever going to be Dribble due to her predilection for chewing on my shoulder while long strands of drool slide off my elbow... you get the picture. She's going to hate me for telling you that when she's older) turned one last month. And what with my commitments, my best mate (her mama JP)'s commitments and the general crapness of the so-called English Spring her birthday shoot got postponed and postponed ... until today.

The plan was to head out on to the Common, which is currently a heaven (except for hayfever sufferers) of long grass, dandelions and michelmas daisies, inflate a lot of rainbow balloons with helium (with a bit left over for ridiculous voiceovers), tie them to a big basket and generally use an UP sort of theme to give the shoot some shape.

And as it's bank holiday I think we all know what the weather did.

Yup.

Downpour.

Cue rethink. No one-year-old is going to appreciate freezing her (bubblegum pink) socks off in the driving rain. Hence we engaged in a bit of furniture adjustment and shot in my dining room. It wasn't ideal but certainly better than the alternative.

I think you'll agree JP and Dribble are an absolute delight together - I could have only wished that Stevo had been free to make it a trio. Next time Boyo... next time!

Here are my faves from the afternoon... and btw I got to keep the red balloons :-)
